Thesis

Design of a Gravity Energy Storage System (2025)

My Masters thesis explored the Electro-Magnetic Gravity Energy Storage System (EMGES), a novel concept combining electromagnetism and gravitational potential energy. A small-scale prototype was designed and tested, showing it could generate power outputs up to 18.5 W, while simulations suggested scalability to multi-kWh systems in deep shafts.

The project demonstrated both the promise and challenges of EMGES: its technical potential for renewable integration, but with efficiency and cost hurdles compared to established technologies like lithium-ion or pumped hydro. Despite these, EMGES offers a new direction in sustainable, mechanical-based energy storage research.
